The Blackbeard's Ghost

The Blackbeard's Ghost is one of my favorite modern tiki cocktails because it's a perfect example of a complex build that absolutely sings. The split base of bright, column-distilled rum and a richer, pot-still Demerara creates an incredible foundation for all that citrus and spice.

Recipe Ingredients

1 oz. (30 ml) Don Q Gold Rum Add to Cart
1/2 oz. (15 ml) Hamilton 86 Demerara Rum Add to Cart
1/2 oz. (15 ml) Giffard Abricot Du Roussillon Add to Cart
1/2 oz. (15 ml) John D. Taylor's Velvet Falernum Add to Cart
1 oz. (30 ml) fresh orange juice
1/2 oz. (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz. (15 ml) fresh lime juice
1/2 oz. (15 ml) rich demerara syrup (2:1 sugar:water)
2 dashes Angostura Aromatic Bitters Add to Cart
Dehydrated lime wheel and pineapple fronds for garnish

Recipe Directions

1. Add the Don Q Gold Rum, Hamilton 86 Demerara Rum, Giffard Abricot, Velvet Falernum, orange juice, lemon juice, lime juice, rich demerara syrup, and Angostura Bitters to your shaker.
2. Fill the shaker with ice.
3. Seal and shake hard until well-chilled.
4. Double strain into a chilled glass filled with fresh ice.
5. Garnish with a dehydrated lime wheel and pineapple fronds.
