The Macunaíma
The Macunaíma is a perfect example of balance, showing how barrel-aged cachaça’s grassy funk can play beautifully with the cool, minty bitterness of Fernet Branca. It’s an unexpected combination that creates a wonderfully complex and incredibly refreshing sour. A true modern classic worth shaking up.
Recipe Ingredients
1/2 oz. (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz. (15 ml) semi-rich simple syrup (1.5:1 sugar:water)
1/4 oz. (7.5 ml) Fernet Branca
Recipe Directions
2. Add the cachaça, fresh lemon juice, semi-rich simple syrup, and Fernet Branca.
3. Fill the tin with ice.
4. Give it a hard shake until well chilled.
5. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass.
