Tanglin Orchid Gin hails from Singapore, proudly holding the title of the city-state's first gin distillery, a venture started in 2018 by a group of expatriates. The brand is known for capturing the essence of Singapore, drawing inspiration from the Tanglin neighborhood's history of spice plantations and its role in the historic spice trade route. This isn't an old classic, but rather a modern creation, with their Orchid Gin being their debut expression. What's noteworthy is Tanglin's innovative use of botanicals that reflect Singapore's diverse culture, particularly the inclusion of orchid, specifically the dried stems of Dendrobium orchids (shi hu), alongside amchoor (dried unripe mango powder) and vanilla. The distillery itself has become a destination, now located in Dempsey Hill, an area with its own rich history, offering tours and a cocktail bar.
