Let's Answer Your Questions About Lustau Manzanilla Papirusa Sherry
Where is Lustau Manzanilla Papirusa Sherry from?
Lustau Manzanilla Papirusa Sherry hails from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, a coastal town in Spain's Jerez region, and is a classic example of Manzanilla style. Bodegas Lustau, founded in 1896, initially operated as an "almacenista," aging and selling wines to larger sherry houses. They began exporting under their own name in 1950, and "Papirusa" was one of their early brands. The name "Papirusa," meaning elegant and beautiful, was inspired by a doll Emilio Lustau gifted to the daughter of his first manager in the 1940s. Lustau is renowned for its quality and is unique in producing wines in all three towns of the Sherry Triangle. This particular Manzanilla is aged under a veil of flor yeast, imparting its characteristic sea breeze aroma and bone-dry, crisp palate with a hint of salt.
How should I use Lustau Manzanilla Papirusa Sherry?
Lustau Manzanilla Papirusa offers a bone-dry, crisp experience with distinct sea breeze and chamomile notes, a result of its aging under flor in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Its light body and saline character make it a fantastic aperitif and a brilliant partner in cocktails where a touch of bright, nutty salinity is desired, such as a nuanced Clover Club or a Bamboo.
What does Lustau Manzanilla Papirusa Sherry taste like?
Lustau Manzanilla Papirusa offers a delicate bouquet of chamomile, sea breeze, and green apple. On the palate, it's bone dry, light, and crisp, with a distinct saline minerality balanced by notes of almond and a refreshing acidity. The finish is lingering, with a subtle, pleasant bitterness and hints of tangy olive.
