High West Double Rye! in a Nutshell
High West Double Rye! uniquely blends two distinct straight rye whiskeys – a younger, spicier MGP-distilled rye (95% rye) with an older, richer High West-distilled rye (80% rye). This clever combination creates a spirit that offers both bold, youthful spice and smoothing, mature complexity, making it an intriguing choice for your home bar.

Anders' Take on High West Double Rye!
"High West Double Rye has a punchy spice that stands up beautifully in cocktails, but it's also got a surprising smoothness that makes it great on its own."
Let's Answer Your Questions About High West Double Rye!
Where is High West Double Rye! from?
High West Double Rye! comes from Utah's first legal distillery since 1870, High West Distillery, founded in 2006 by David Perkins, a former biochemist, and his wife Jane. Inspired by a visit to a Kentucky distillery and a love for the Old West, they set up shop in Park City, Utah, initially with a small 250-gallon still. High West is known for its innovative blending of whiskies, and Double Rye! is a prime example, artfully combining two different straight rye whiskies – one younger and one older – to achieve its signature spicy and complex flavor profile. While not an old classic in the historic sense, it quickly gained acclaim and has become a significant player in rye whiskey's resurgence, with the brand itself earning "Distillery of the Year" from Whisky Advocate in 2016. Notably, High West was the world's first ski-in gastro-distillery.
How should I use High West Double Rye!?
High West Double Rye! brings a punch of cinnamon, clove, and a whisper of mint to the party, making it a fantastic base for cocktails where you want that rye spice to really sing. It stands up beautifully in a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned, adding a distinct, flavorful backbone.
What does High West Double Rye! taste like?
High West Double Rye! greets you with mint, clove, and a hint of pine. The taste is a balance of rye spice, honey, and herbal notes like mint and eucalyptus. It finishes with cinnamon and mint, evolving into a subtle sweetness with a touch of anise.
