Del Maguey Chichicapa Mezcal, a true classic in the world of agave spirits, hails from the village of San Baltazar Chichicapam in Oaxaca, Mexico. Launched in 1995 by artist Ron Cooper, Del Maguey is renowned for introducing the concept of single-village mezcals to a global audience, showcasing the unique terroir and ancient Zapotec production methods of individual family palenqueros. Chichicapa, made by Faustino Garcia Vasquez, is crafted from 100% Espadin agave, twice-distilled in wood-fired copper pot stills, a testament to the 400-year-old handcrafted tradition. This particular expression was among the first Del Maguey released and is noted for its complex character, with citrus and minty overtones, making it a significant bottling that helped introduce many to the art of traditional mezcal.
