Hurricane -- Variation #2 (Pat O'Brien's Inspired)

Building a serious Hurricane requires a serious approach to its key components, and this collection brings together the specific craft spirits I reach for. You need a split base to get this right: a clean, bright, and dry white rum like The Real McCoy 3 Year lays the grassy, vegetal foundation, while an aged Demerara rum, specifically the El Dorado 8 Year, introduces that crucial weight and a hint of molasses richness. These aren't just arbitrary cocktail ingredients; they are the calibrated building blocks that support the bright passion fruit and citrus, ensuring your drink has structure and isn't just a saccharine fruit bomb. For anyone looking to perfect their tiki game or just stock a versatile home bar, having these two distinct rums on the shelf is a smart move. You can find these curated bottles and more essentials right here at the House of Bitter Bear, selected by me, Anders Erickson, to make your cocktails consistently better.
