Whiskey Sour -- Variation #1

A proper Whiskey Sour needs some muscle, which is why I reach for a 100-proof bourbon. It has the weight to stand up to rich Demerara syrup and bright lemon, creating a drink with real structure and that classic, silky foam top.

Recipe Ingredients

2 oz. Old Grand-Dad Bonded Bourbon Add to Cart
1/2 oz. rich Demerara syrup (2:1 sugar:water)
3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
1/2 -1 egg white or 3/4 oz aquafaba
Expressed lemon oil
3 drops Angostura Aromatic Bitters Add to Cart for garnish

Recipe Directions

1. Combine bourbon, Demerara syrup, lemon juice, and egg white or aquafaba in a shaker.
2. Dry shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds to emulsify.
3. Add ice and shake until thoroughly chilled.
4. Double strain into a chilled coupe or rocks glass.
5. Express lemon oil over the drink, then garnish with three drops of Angostura Bitters.
